KHOO KAR HOE

Memories of Rosyth

The school building was at Rosyth Road with a little provision shop opposite it. We had a big school field that had a short staircase leading to the front porch of the school. The field was lined with several old rain trees with wide-spreading branches. A group of us girls, would often get some shade under them during our recess play and in the morning before the morning assembly. We loved to play Zero Point and spent lots of our free time trying to perfect each jump. We tied many red and brown rubber bands for the game. I could really jump very high…I guess that was the reason why I loved the game!
The school field was used for Sports Day yearly. Teachers would organise some simple and fun relays for the classes. I remember clearly that we had team games such as sprints, gunny-sack race and passing of ping pong balls using metal spoons. There were only three classes for each level. Sometimes, we were grouped to challenge our own classmates but sometimes, we had inter-class races. We were really proud of ourselves for being able to represent our team or class in the games. We always had a great time!
