Memories of Rosyth

I used to represent Rosyth in basketball and was obviously obsessed with practice even outside designated training times. Even as a prefect, I would practice shooting hoops early in the morning, prior to assembly and more often than not, the discipline master would stand at the assembly grounds five minutes before the start assembly and give me the stare of death. It was the sign for me to end my session, clean up and get to my gate duties. This went on for quite sometime and I got suspended from my prefect duties for a month after exhausting the discipline master's patience. Thinking back, I would do it all over again as it was always hilarious having me, the fat kid, scrambling after a basketball and then dressing up before 'flying' off to the gate-it was like a pre-assembly comedy skit for the rest of the student populace.

Rosyth will always have a special place in my heart, it was where I fell in love with sports (and unfortunately hated studies, I represented the school in mini tennis, captained the school in my P5/P6 years in basketball, sepak takraw, athletics). It was where I also learnt the harsh realities of relationships (got turned down by a girl I liked and I turned down a girl who liked me). Looking back, I am greatly appreciative of all the teachers who had to expend all their patience on me, who made me understand that it was alright not to conform and to continually strive for excellence.
